Jonathan Miller brings over 30 years of senior leadership experience, with a strong track record in customer-facing, multi-site operations, and substantial expertise in M&A, leveraged finance and equity fundraising. As former CEO and CFO of McColl’s plc, Jonathan managed a £1.2bn business with 1,600 stores and 15,000 employees, demonstrating deep expertise in commercial operations, financial management, and strategic growth.
Jonathan has proven ability to drive growth and profitability. Notable achievements include participating in the MBO of the 640-store Forbuoys newsagent chain in 1995 and the £80 million acquisition of 780 Martins newsagent stores in 1998, which created McColl’s Retail Group. In 2005, he was a principal in a secondary buyout and spearheaded the store development and expansion programme.
In 2014, as CFO, Jonathan ran an IPO process, raising £130 million on the main market, further establishing McColl’s as a key player in the convenience retail space. In 2016, he completed the £117 million acquisition of 298 stores from Co-op, boosting revenue by 30% and EBITDA by 40%.
